Urmston Floral Art
About us:
Urmston Floral Art Club meet on 2nd Thursday in the month for Demonstration Evenings, at John Alker Memorial Hall, Flixton at 7.30 p.m. New members and visitors are very welcome. No skill is required just a love of flowers.
In addition to our programme, outings to Flower Festivals and Shows are arranged, and some members participate in competitions and the staging of festivals.
The Club emerged from Urmston and District Allotment and Garden Society in 1965 thanks to the foresight, skill and tenacity of our founding members, and membership has gone from strength to strength since then. Our main activity is floral demonstrations. On Club nights an experienced and entertaining flower arranger will visit to show us their skills. Generally, a demonstrator will complete
six or seven designs which fit their chosen theme, using a variety of flowers, foliage and accessories. At the end of the evening you may win one in the raffle!
Demonstrations form a relaxing evening out where you can enjoy the beauty of flowers and pick up lots of hints and tips on all aspects of flower arranging, gardening, plant information, etc. We also have a sales table where you can buy flower arranging items. As well as being skillful and informative the demonstrators are frequently very amusing. It is a great opportunity to see new ideas or pick up things that you can do at home.
