There are almost 60 clubs in The North West Area so there is sure to be one near you!
100,000’s of flowers to adorn historic Towneley Hall, Burnley.
Historic Towneley Hall in Burnley is due to be transformed into a floral wonderland when 500 flower arrangers from all over the North West create magic and art with hundreds of thousands of flowers.
The huge floral extravaganza entitled NATUREin2ART will be held from September 18th-20th and brings together exhibition and competition work each interlocking with the other to create a unique, inspiring event not to be missed.
Being organised by the North West Area of NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies) - which is an educational charity - Monday 21st has been set aside as a private day for schools and colleges.
Visitors to the event will be met by a massive bed made out of flowers. The aim is for it to be the biggest floral bed ever made. There will be other outside exhibits including some floating in the pond and an outdoor plant fair.
Inside the Hall there will be a fusion of art and flowers. Arrangers will be gaining inspiration from centuries of artistic expression contained within the building to make floral works of art for today.
Among the many exhibits there will be an avenue of sixteen contemporary floral trees, eight floral sculptures inspired by an artist or style of art, floral cushions for a collection of historic Lancashire chairs and floral dresses. Around 20 rooms at Towneley are being transformed by floral art.
Three of the floral dresses are to be modeled at the RHS Tatton Show in July.
As well as the exhibits there will be six competitions ranging from floral chairs and pictures to floral necklaces.
TV’s popular florist Jonathan Moseley will be giving three demonstrations each day on Friday and Saturday. These will be especially tailored to floral designs for the home. Jonathan is the celebrity judge on BBC2’s The Big Allotment Challenge, is a NAFAS national demonstrator and floral designer. For over 20 years he has inspired and entertained audiences with his humorous and friendly approach making him on the UK’s most popular demonstrators.
The event has taken two years of preparation and involves flower arrangers from 60 clubs all over the North West and Cheshire.
Coach parties are welcome and the organisers of the event have teamed up with Boundary Mill Stores in Colne so visitors can combine their visit to Towneley with a spot of shopping at Boundary Mill.
